A man who laced treats with sedative and gave them to youngsters at a summer program in Leicestershire has confessed to sexual offenses against two boys both nine and 10.

The defendant was taken into custody after eight children and an older person fell ill at the location in the summer month.

The senior citizen, from Ruddington in Nottinghamshire, pleaded guilty to a series of 17 offences when he stood at Leicester Crown Court on the end of the week.

Yet, he refused to admit a single sexual charge he was accused of, which was concerning a young boy.

Ruben was held in detention prior to a further hearing on November 28th.

'Treat game'

The prosecutor, prosecuting, outlined the criminal behavior to the judicial body.

She stated his targets were children from difficult backgrounds who were participating in a youth camp which he operated.

Ruben engaged in a "candy game" with the children, the legal counsel said, in which he would enter the children's bedrooms when they were getting ready for bed and tell them to eat sweets "as fast as possible".

She told the court the defendant had played this game with the young males "repeatedly", and minors had earlier experienced illness the following morning.

She explained the defendant had been successful in rationalizing this repeatedly as the minors being "overstimulated by activities", until his family member had suspicions in recently.

Mrs Prior KC added: "This year his family member had worries about the situation, with valid cause.

"They decided to have a look in the individual's items."

The prosecutor explained objects including infant oil, ointment and medical needles were found, and his stepson alerted the police about his worries.

She said the defendant continued to conduct the "treat game" with six boys that time - July 26th - and they were all sick the next day.

"Law enforcement" had not gone out by that time," she added.

The regulatory agency, the investigative body, previously told that it was reviewing Leicestershire Police's handling of the incident.

Mrs Prior stated the minors were unable to walk properly due to their condition, so Ruben's stepson called the law enforcement a second time.

She explained the defendant then played the "treat game" in a room of five minors.
